General information

Dear Fresher, Welcome!!!

General information for your stay in Portugal.

Embassy Registration:

Since you will reside in Portugal, you must proceed with your Consular Registration online , through the Cape Verde consular portal. Consular registration should only be requested after you have your address.

Whenever you go to the Embassy or Honorary Consulate Services, you must bring with you an updated proof of registration , so that you can benefit from the fee exemption applied to students.

You should prioritize traveling to the city in which you will study.

You must then enroll in the Educational Institution where you were placed.

To do this you will have to present:

Your Cape Verdean Passport (even in cases of dual nationality) and mention that you entered under the Special Access Regime – contingent of places allocated to the PALOP.

Your application process should already be at the Institution (the one you completed in Cape Verde). If you encounter any difficulties with registration, you should contact us so that we can help resolve the problem.

In some Universities there is an associated bank branch, so you can open an account there and be provided with a student card with several advantages, or if you prefer, you can open an account at any bank branch.

You must also register with the National Health Service . To do this, you need to go to the Health Center in your new area of residence

In this case, these will be the documents to be presented:

  • Residence certificate;
  • Identification document (passport);
  • Declaration issued by the Embassy (online)

As you will have noticed, the validity of the visa does not cover the entire 1st academic year, so you should pay attention to the date of your appointment to apply for a residence permit found on the visa.

To clarify any doubts, you can consult the website www.sef.pt.

We can only wish you happiness in this new stage of your life.

  • You will have to pass every year and have a minimum pass rate equal to or greater than 75%.

If you have a lower performance or are retained in the same year, you will have to make an exceptional renewal request presenting a letter justifying the retention to which you can attach all the documents you deem necessary to prove the situation.

If your tuition fee is provided by Portugal, you must follow the formula below

  • NC x 0.6, if NC >= 60;
  • 36 ECTS, if NC < 60 and NC >= 36;
  • NC, if NC < 36;

where NC = number of ECTS enrolled in the last year of enrollment;

When this rule is not complied with, the student loses the right to support and this decision cannot be appealed.
