The protection of privacy and personal data is a priority for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Communities - Embassy of Cape Verde in Portugal (hereinafter referred to as the Embassy).

This policy concerns privacy practices within the scope of activities carried out by the Embassy, ​​including portals, online sites, mobile applications and other services managed by this Embassy. The personal data you provide to us during interaction with the various services will be treated with the security and confidentiality guarantees required by the legal framework relating to the protection of personal data.

The applications under the responsibility of the Embassy, ​​within the scope of the services provided, contain links to other sites under the responsibility of third parties. The Embassy's privacy policy applies exclusively to applications and services under its responsibility. When you access websites from other entities, even from websites under the responsibility of the Embassy, ​​you should read their respective privacy policies.

Access to and use of services, portals and websites, under the responsibility of the Embassy, ​​must be free on the part of the user, assuming the Embassy that he or she has read, understood and accepted the Terms and Conditions for their use.

Any attempts to alter the information, or any other action that could cause damage and endanger the integrity of the system, are strictly prohibited in accordance with current legislation. The user undertakes to scrupulously comply with applicable legislation, particularly in matters of computer crime and intellectual property rights, and is exclusively responsible for infringements of these regulations.


Privacy


The Embassy respects your right to privacy. The data requested is intended to provide the service requested by you, and personal data that is not necessary to provide the service or without your consent will not be collected.


Interaction with the Embassy's services, portals and websites does not require user information, except when, for expressly identified purposes, registration is declared necessary and is authorized by the user in accordance with the terms below.


Responsible for Treatment

The Embassy as responsible for data processing:
• Ensures that the processing of your personal data is carried out within the scope of the purposes for which they were collected or for purposes compatible with those;
• Collects, uses and stores only the personal data necessary for the purpose in question;
• Does not transmit any personal data for commercial or advertising purposes;
• Processes personal data for legally stipulated purposes or to provide services at your request.


Subcontractor

The Embassy, ​​as a subcontractor, undertakes to comply with the privacy and personal data processing agreements contracted with the entities responsible for data processing.


Types of data collected

Among the types of personal data that the Embassy's applications collect are: camera permission; microphone permission; device sensors permission; Cookies; email address; password and device identifiers for statistical purposes of accessing the website, namely a Google Analytics ID.




















Personal data may be voluntarily provided by the user when using the applications or, in the case of usage data, collected automatically when the user uses the applications.


Unless otherwise specified, all data requested by applications is mandatory and failure to provide this data may make the provision of its services unfeasible.

When the data is not declared mandatory, users are free not to communicate them without any harm to the availability or functioning of the service.


Any use of cookies - or other automatic data collection tools - by the Embassy's applications or by the owners of third-party services used in their applications is for the purpose of providing the service required by the user, in addition to any other purposes described in this document and in the cookie policy.


Mobile device permissions when accessing personal data


Depending on the user's specific device, the mobile application provided by the Embassy may request certain permissions that authorize access to data on the user's device. These permissions will be granted by the user before their information is accessed by the application.


Once permission has been granted, it can be canceled by the user at any time. To override these permissions, users can consult their mobile device settings. The exact procedure for controlling app permissions may depend on the user's device and software.


However, it is important to note that revoking these permissions may affect the proper functioning of the mobile application.


If the user grants any of the permissions listed below, personal data may be processed (i.e. accessed, modified or removed) by the application:


Camera permission
Used to access the camera or capture images and video from the device.

Microphone permission
Allows you to access and record microphone audio from the user's device.

Sensors permission
Used to access user data from the device.

Personal data security

The Embassy implements various appropriate security measures to prevent unauthorized access, disclosure, modification or unauthorized destruction of data.

  • Physical security measures, whether in controlling access for employees, collaborators and visitors to their facilities, or on the Data Center facilities through very restricted mechanisms for combating intrusion, extinguishing fires, monitoring equipment 24x7 and housing equipment in dedicated racks;
  • Logical security measures, in terms of access to systems and jobs through identity, authentication and privilege management mechanisms; in the network component, the use of firewalls and intrusion detection systems, segregating networks and application environments, as well as encryption of information through secure communication channels.

Access and control of personal data

We enable, whenever requested by the user, access, rectification and deletion of personal data. The user also has the right to object to the processing of their personal data.


If the use of your personal data is based on consent, you have the right to withdraw it, without compromising the validity of the data processing carried out up to that point.

  • Information about processing;
  • The purpose underlying the processing;
  • Correction, or updating, of data;
  • Your data in an open format;
  • The deletion of data, without prejudice to the legislation applicable to the processing in question.

Personal Data Archive

Personal data is kept by the Embassy for the period necessary for its processing, according to its purpose.


Conservation periods may change when the associated public interest, historical, scientific or statistical reasons justify it, with the Embassy committing to adopt appropriate conservation and security measures.


Cookies and Similar Technologies


The Embassy uses cookies and other similar technologies in its applications that improve users' performance and browsing experience, increasing, on the one hand, the speed and efficiency of response and, on the other, eliminating the need to repeatedly enter the same information .


The cookies used by the Embassy do not collect personal information that allows the user to be identified, but only store generic information, namely the region/city of access, among others.


The cookies used in the Embassy's applications are the following:

  • Essential - necessary for browsing the website, guaranteeing access to private areas of the website, in order to allow services to be carried out, namely session cookies.
  • Analytical - necessary to collect information for statistical analysis of navigation and use of the website, namely Google.


The information generated by the use of cookies may be sent to third parties to analyze trends, track browsing and performance, without however identifying any person.

Users can prevent the use of cookies in their browser settings. If you limit this option, the use of some resources or the performance of certain tools may be affected.


Additional information about the collection and processing of personal data

Legal actions
The user's personal data may be used for possible legal actions arising from the misuse of the services provided by the Embassy.
The user must be aware that the Embassy may be obliged to reveal personal data at the request of legal authorities.


Application maintenance
For maintenance purposes, data may be collected that records interaction with the applications provided (system logs) or other files that do not identify the user.

Changes to the privacy policy
